Bill Clinton testify about Jeffrey Epstein: “If I had known, I would have reported him myself.”
Bill Clinton has testified before the House Oversight Committee, asserting his lack of knowledge regarding Jeffrey Epstein’s criminal activities. “Having grown up in a household with domestic abuse, I would not have flown on his plane had I suspected any wrongdoing, but I would have reported him myself,” he stated. The former U.S. president firmly denied any collusion, emphasizing that instead of accepting “favorable arrangements,” he would have sought justice for Epstein’s crimes, riporta Attuale.
During his testimony, Clinton reiterated, “I saw nothing and did nothing wrong.” He further declared, “I had no idea of the crimes Epstein was committing. No matter how many photos you show me, I have two things that matter more at the end of the day than your interpretation of those images from 20 years ago. I know what I saw and, more importantly, what I didn’t see. I know what I did and, more significantly, what I did not do.” He expressed his commitment to offering everything he knows to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
In his opening statements, Clinton underscored the need for justice for the women whose lives Epstein has destroyed, emphasizing, “They deserve not only justice but also healing. They have waited too long for both.” He highlighted that his acquaintance with Epstein was brief and had ended years before the criminal charges emerged, and noted he had never witnessed any indications of Epstein’s wrongdoing.
Clinton added, “You will often hear me say that I do not remember. This may seem unsatisfactory, but I won’t say anything I’m unsure of.” He concluded his introductory remarks with a touch of irony, stating, “Since I am under oath, I won’t falsely say I’m eager to receive your questions. However, I am ready to answer as best as I can, in line with the facts as I know them: the legitimate, the logical, and even the unusual.”
